As posted by Marc on Babalu . (There are links throughout this article that you can click on.)

fidel castro, and his successors, have made a habit of selling Cuba out to slavemasters with the deepest pockets.
For 40 years, it was the Soviet Union holding the whip. Cuba got cheap oil and other economic aid. The Russians got their own Hessian force to do their dirty work in Africa and Latin America. The Cuban people got Stalin-style repression and oppression.
When the money ran out and the party was over, a few years later, a new sugar daddy, the clown prince of Caracas, came on the scene. Cuba again got cheap oil, and the castros again turned over the keys to their fiefdom to a foreign slavemaster looking to poke America in the eye.
The castro brothers got theirs, and still do. The Cuban people, they are on their own.
For his troubles, the clown prince — in reality, a dangerous wannabe dictator — gets his pointers literally at the feet of a master tyrant.
As the headlines today again reveal, Cuba's slavery under a foreign despot continues. Every oil deal, every trade agreement only tightens Hugo Chavez's grip on Cuba, his foothold on his plantation, deepens.
And the Cuban people continue to suffer in poverty and under tyranny.
Worst of all, the nation again does not control its destiny.
Its future is bleak.
hugo chavez doesn't care. He won't be taking telephone calls from any other Cubans.
He just wants what's coming to him:
His hand on the whip.
